A Cause Worth Standing For
International Justice Mission (IJM) is the largest anti-slavery organisation in the world. Founded almost 30 years ago, IJM protects people living in poverty from violence and slavery by partnering with governments and local law enforcement to strengthen justice systems – so that criminals are deterred and vulnerable people are protected. About International Justice Mission
Today, more than 50 million people are living in modern slavery – making this work more urgent than ever. IJM has a global team of around 1,200 staff working across 20 program countries throughout the Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe and Latin America.
IJM’s mission is to protect people living in poverty from violence and slavery. They work alongside local authorities to rescue people from violence and exploitation, support their long-term recovery, and help ensure perpetrators are held accountable. Their program teams include investigators, social workers and lawyers.
Each IJM program is designed to address the specific forms of violence and exploitation affecting local communities – including forced labour, sex trafficking and the online sexual exploitation of children, as well as violence against women and children and abuse of power by public officials. IJM helps survivors find safety and stability while breaking cycles of abuse and preventing future harm.
In Australia, IJM operates as an Advancement Office of around 25 staff, focused on partnerships, advocacy and fundraising to support IJM’s global program work.
